Announcing the summer 2019 Art at CP course

Working with Watercolor:Beginning to advanced techniques that explore the natural environment at Cedar Pointe

From J.W. Turner to James Audubon, watercolor has been an integral field material in documenting and observing plant, animal and mineral form. It’s speed, clarity and transportability make it the ultimate martial to use in such a natural environment. Observing and rendering forms as large as landscapes and as small as tiny insects will expand students understanding of their environment, bringing science and art together. Projects will include creating artwork from observation, reference and imagination. The projects are geared toward understanding technique and concepts central to transparent wet media and applied to the environment at Cedar Pointe. The materials list is small and transportable: Watercolor set, pen-brush, brushes, bound watercolor pad, sketchbook/journal, pencils and watercolor pencils.

ARTP 383
Dates: June 9th-June 21
st 2019
Instructor: Aaron Holz aholz3@unl.edu

We are working to enroll 10-12 students and hope for a nice blend of majors.  This is an ACE 7 course.  Any student enrolled at UNL seeking a degree is eligible for a scholarship to cover the cost of food and housing during those two weeks at CPBS as well.   We would also hope to see a few visiting non-degree seeking students enrolled as well.  We anticipate the same fee as last summer $490 for 2 weeks food and housing.

New addition to CPBS; Thanks Kawasaki.

Yes, it has been a while since we have added anything to this Blog and I think this should change with some great news.  Kawasaki has a program that lends UTVs or side x side off road vehicles to educational institutions.  We get to use up to four for as long as 11 months.  So the new beauty below with less than 0.3 hours of run time on it is at CPBS for the Fall.  I know parts of this MULE are made in Lincoln NE so this is appropriate.  We should also thank Dr. Robert Gibson who donated the trailer... This trailer was used to haul research equipment for many years and it is a perfect fit for a UTV.

Kawasaki also lends out Jetski's but I haven't figured out a research need... yes, I'm not... well 100% serious there.

Thanks for checking in.  My intent is a regular bog entry becomes the core material for a regular newsletter... so... more to come.  Jon G CPBS
